American Idol

Paula is leaving? What? But she is such a great part of that show! Ok, I admit it I do watch American Idol, in fact, I watch it religously! It's the only reality show that we watch and love. The talent is entertaining, the judges are always entertaining, either love 'em or hate 'em. After 7 years of watching Paula through her addiction years, mumble and sleep and lose track finally she has gotten herself cleaned up and on the road. She was by far my favorite judge this past year. She is kind, fair, caring, knowledgable and frequently on point. Who will balance Simon? I love Simon's acidity and raw honesty but, let's face it, we need a counterpoint.

I haven't heard a word about Kira, anyone? Hopefully that means she's is a thing of the past, whew! Who will it be? Who will be Simon's new counter weight? Who will be there to toss a little sugar on that boiling vat of acid? Did I hear the name Kirstie Alley? What?

I don't watch the show too much anymore, but I agree, they need a balance. She was usually the one who kindly told the applicants it was a "no" while the others were laughing. It will be interesting to see who they pick.

Kara is coming back. I'm curious what it's going to be like without Paula. I will miss her and Simon's jokes with each other.

Big mistake if it is true, Paula and Simon were the show, I read Kira signed and is coming back, too bad.

Honestly, I think Paula will be back at the last minute, assuming there's a big fan backlash against Fox.

If not, I think they'll see an effect on the ratings, and Fox will be groveling for her return next season.

See Simon only works if he's balanced by an anti-Simon, and Paula is that person. If it's just Randy and his endless "Dog" comments, Kara and her long winded ones, or a bunch of fill in judges like Katy Perry and Posh Spice that are still filling their way around the judging table, it's just not going to work or feel the same. I think people will notice, and she'll be back b/c of it at some point.

I'm glad we all agree on this...let's just send these comments on to Fox and I'm sure they'll see the errors of their ways!
